WORSHIP

Sunday Morning Service 11:00 am

FPC - HOW WE WORSHIP

At First Presbyterian Church, worship is not only about God—it is our direct response to God’s presence and work in our lives. We gather mindful that God is truly with us: active, involved, and continually shaping us.

Transformed in Christ

In worship, we remember God’s saving grace, trust Christ’s ongoing mercy, and commit ourselves to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit. Even in our frailty, we are renewed as Christ’s presence in the world.

Offering Ourselves

In worship, we offer ourselves to God, returning what already belongs to God. As Paul urges, we present our lives as a living sacrifice. Regular worship forms us for service, reminding us that God’s grace is both a gift and a calling. Because God loves and forgives us, we are sent to love, forgive, and work for peace and justice. For us at First Presbyterian, worship extends beyond the sanctuary into the streets, where the gospel is needed, questioned, and sought.

Music in Worship

Music in Worship
"When in our music God is glorified, and adoration leaves no room for pride, it is as though the whole creation cried: Allelujah!"
Fred Pratt Green, 1972

At First Presbyterian Church, music is one of our deepest forms of prayer. It engages the soul in ways spoken words alone cannot, drawing us together in a shared offering whenever we gather for worship. Music unites our voices, our longings, and our gratitude before God.
While music can be artistic and enjoyable, we do not use it for entertainment or performance. Our musicians approach their work with care and humility, ensuring that music is prayer, never filler nor decoration.  Musical selections, whether by the congregation, ensemble, or solo instrument, are offered as a genuine act of worship — a sincere offering to God.
